RoK President Moon request Vietnam’s constructive role in Korea peace process

According to South Korea's Yonhap News Agency, Moon made the request during a private meeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in Seoul on November 27.
Applauding the development of the bilateral relationship across spheres, the host leader stressed that Viet Nam is the key partner in the RoK’s New Southern Policy, and suggested the two countries to advance their cooperative ties to a new level.
The South Korean President briefed the Vietnamese Prime Minister on Pyongyang highlighted by its three-point principle of zero tolerance for war, mutual security guarantees and co-prosperity.
The president "requested Vietnam to play a constructive role" on the Korea issue as it is scheduled to assume the rotating ASEAN chairmanship in 2020 and become a non-permanent member of the U.N. Security Council. Hanoi's two-year term on the panel is to start next year. Moon also proposed joint efforts between Seoul and Hanoi for peace and prosperity in the region and around the world.

The Korean President also thanked Vietnam for hosting the second summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean President Kim Jong Un in February this year in Hanoi.
According to the Korean leader, the relationship between the two countries is extremely good and witnessed many outstanding cooperative achievements in recent years.
For example, according to Mr. Moon, the Vietnamese football team under the guidance of coach Park Hang Seo has achieved many high achievements in the past 2 years.
The number of Korean - Vietnamese couples is at 60,000 - something Mr. Moon said is the clearest evidence that "the two countries have become one family".
In response, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed that Viet Nam attaches great importance to the relationship and will join hands with the RoK to advance the ties in the coming years.
PM Phuc invited President Moon to attend relevant high-level ASEAN conferences to be hosted by Viet Nam in 2020. The Korean President accepted the invitation with pleasure. After the talks, the two leaders witnessed the signing of cooperation documents between the two sides.
