The school has five classes in three classrooms, all of them were built a long time ago with a basic structure. Due to the downgraded condition, the classrooms’ structure is broken and threaten the safety of the students inside. In addition, the whole school is flooded in the rainy season. Under such circumstances, the children feel uncomfortable for their daily schooling activities. Therefore, the need for classrooms is becoming more serious and the need for action more urgent. With this project, the totals estimated cost to build and fully equip the new primary school is USD 75,404.
Families whose children are studying at the school, all school teachers, the community in Phung Hiep Commune, and the local government will also indirectly benefit from the project. The project includes building three classrooms and a playground, providing training about construction supervision to the Community Management Unit to equip them with basic skills and knowledge, running workshops regarding school maintenance in order to raise awareness among the teachers and children on the importance of school hygiene and equip them with the skills to keep the primary school in good conditions, and one “Challenge Day” event for volunteers from QSR to work on the construction.
Being a longstanding programme of saigonchildren, the School Building and Learning Environments Programme aims to construct or renovate kindergartens and primary schools, to bring a safe and effective learning environment to children in the most disadvantaged areas of Vietnam. Since 1992, saigonchildren has built 192 schools, 503 classrooms and provided over 36,800 scholarships.
