“The achievement we made today proves to be a positive result from the cooperation and unity between organizations and Tieu Can district authority”, said Deputy Chair of the People’s Committee of Tieu Can District, Nguyen Thi Vinh in the inauguration ceremony of Phu Can A primary school held on August 25th.

Phu Can A Primary School has a total of 3 classrooms, each 64m2 wide. The facility also includes a large playground for students from 1st to 5th grades. In addition, the hallways, roof, and floor were also neatly tiled, replacing the old concrete and metal structures.

Phu Can A Primary used to be heavily damaged; the lack of safety and space negatively impacted its students’ learning capabilities, especially in extreme weather.

“The great headteacher and teachers at this school can now share their knowledge and enthusiasm with children in a safe and comfortable environment. I am sure it will be a place of learning and happiness for all who pass through its doors.” CEO of SCC, Damien Roberts shared in the ceremony.

The completion of Phu Can A Primary marks the 10th school renovation project sponsored by Credit Suisse AG since 2008. The school is also sponsored by donors from the Saigon Summer Ball 2017 and a local fund. Throughout the last 10 years, 5 kindergartens and 5 primary schools in the regions of Tra Vinh, Hau Giang, Dong Nai, and Tay Ninh have received Credit Suisse’s funds to remodel to the standards of the Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training.

All projects were directed and organized by saigonchildren; supported by local authorities, the Saigon Summer Ball and Credit Suisse AG, with the joint hope of creating an optimal educational environment for local children to learn and develop their abilities./.
