The ground-breaking ceremony for the solar power project in the central province of Quang Binhwas kicked off on July 1st.

The project aims to supply power for localities in remote and rural areas where the national grid is inaccessible.

Solar power project kicked off in Quang Binh

The project, invested in by the Republic of Korea’s ODA loan to the sum of over USD13.7 million, is expected to supply electricity for more than 1,294 households in 46 communes and villages and 78 public service units in nine communes in Le Thuy, Quang Ninh, Bo Trach and Minh Hoa districts.

Together with reducing negative impacts on the environment, the project will provide high-quality public services for people living in the remote areas, making a significant contribution to Vietnam’s climate change prevention programmes.

The project also contributes to improving peoples livelihoods, reducing poverty and ensuring social welfare and national border gate security in the central province.

As planned, the project will be completed in the fourth quarter of 2016 with 30% of the ordered electricity volume to be put into operation in the end of 2015./. volume to be put into operation in the end of 2015./.
