Support given to fishermen having accidents at Paracel Archipelago

(VNF) - On January 19th, the Quang Ngai provincial fisheries society and the provincial fishermen’s fund visited and granted assistance worth VND2-20 million for each ship owner and fishermen who met with accidents when fishing in the Paracel Archipelago.

(VNF) - On January 19th, the Quang Ngai provincial fisheries society and the provincial fishermen’s fund visited and granted assistance worth VND2-20 million for each ship owner and fishermen who met with accidents when fishing in the Paracel Archipelago.

Accordingly, 12 ship owners and fishermen received the assistance of VND108 million from the provincial fisheries society while 4 others received VND24 million in assistance from the provincial fishermen’s fund.

According to Phan Huy Hoang, President of the provincial fishermen’s fund, three years after its establishment, the fund has received over VND43 billion from organizations and inpiduals across the country.

In 2014, the fund gave support for 110 ship owners and fishermen who met with accidents fishing legally in the Paracel Archipelago. In addition, the fund allocated loans worth nearly VND5.2 billion at low interest rate for 11 fishermen for shipbuilding and repairing.

Earlier, the central committee of the Vietnam Women’s Union worked with the provincial Women’s Union to distribute 10 presents worth VND500,000 each to armed forces on Ly Son Island and 3 presents worth VND120 million to poor families./.
