(VNF) – After a warm Tet, a cold snap has been hitting the North, making the temperature drop by 5-7 degree.

The cold snap began affecting the Northeastern provinces last night. Today morning, it has spread to the Northwestern region and part of the Central.

Compare to yesterday (Feb 21), daytime temperature in the North decreases by 5 to 7 degrees. In Hanoi, temperature ranges from 18-21 degrees Celsius, while in the mountainous province of Lang Son, the temperature is around 17 degree.

Prior to the cold snap, temperature in Northwestern provinces fluctuated between 28 and 31 degrees Celsius; at the moment, it has dropped to 24.

Temperature will further plunge at night. In Hanoi and other provinces in the Red river Delta, the temperature will be 13-16 degree Celsius, while in the highland it may drop to below 9.

In addition to cold weather, the North also experiences light rain.

The cold snap will be over by Feb 24./.
