Dr. Bui Thanh Liem, head of Agriculture and Rural Development Department in the district, yesterday said that local farmers are taking care of many types of flowers such as daisy, marigold, apricot blossom and kumquat so that they will blossom on the occasion of the Lunar New Year Festival. Many households have produced dog shaped ornamental plants for the Year of Dog 2018.
Local producer Nguyen Van Vi said that this year he plans to market 50 dog shaped ornamental plants with price expected to swing from VND3-5 million each.
Mr. Nguyen Van Phi in Sa Dec city, Dong Thap province said that his family has concentrated on caring over 4,000 of florist’s daisy pots. A florist’s daisy crop traditionally extends six months and so far it has been halfway. The weather this year has basically been fine so the flower has developed normally with little pest and disease. Local farmers hope that their daisy pots will blossom on the Tet occasion and price will be good.
Farmers in Sa Dec city have prepared 2-3 million of flower pots and ornamental plants over 510 hectares to supply the market in the Tet Holiday.
Flower villages have sowed 1,000 hectares of flowers for the Tet season in Da Lat city, the Central Highlands city province of Lam Dong.
Cultivation and Plant Protection Agency in the province said that flower cultivation areas in Da Lat and adjacent districts would supply many imported flower varieties such as lisianthus and pink with higher than last year volume./.
