About 110 units of blood were donated by officials of Royal Thai Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City, the Thai community, and representatives from various Vietnamese agencies, such as the municipal Department of Foreign Affairs, the city's Vietnam-ASEAN Friendship Association, the city's Vietnam-Thai Friendship Association and the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam, as well as the Thai private sector in Vietnam.

As many as 100 people joined the event. A bicycle parade was held on the same day to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation.

Participating in donating blood at the event, Chinoros Benjachavakul, senior vice president for human resources and corporate affairs at C.P. Vietnam Corporation, said he has participated in humanitarian blood donation since he was 18 years old in Thailand and Vietnam.

"I have participated in humanitarian blood donation activities since I was 18 years old, now I'm 49 years old.This is the 60th time I have donated blood in both Thailand and Vietnam. I set a goal to donate my blood 100 times," Benjachavakul said.

As a Thai living and working in Dong Nai province, Benjachavakul always wants to bring good values ​​to the Vietnamese people.

"I choose to donate blood because this is a product that machines cannot produce, blood is only 'given' by human love. As a Thai person living and working in Dong Nai, I hope I want to use my blood to help many Vietnamese people," he shared.

Speaking at the event, Consul General Wiraka Moodhitaporn said the blood donation drive was an opportunity for the Thai and Vietnamese communities living in HCM City and neighboring provinces to make contributions to community activities.

This demonstrates the close relationship between Thailand and Vietnam not only at the government level but also widely spread to the private sector and the people, who are always compassionate and willing to help each other. This blood donation will contribute to supporting the blood bank of the Vietnam Red Cross Society. The volunteer spirit of volunteers participating in blood donation is a "good deed" based on the King's initiative to bring great benefits to humanity, she highlighted.

The annual event was organized by the Thai consulate in collaboration with the Vietnam Red Cross Society and the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam.

Nguyen Tuan Khoi, deputy head of the organizing committee of 2024 Red Journey, said that the "Good deeds from the heart" program is in the peak period of organizing the "Red Journey" campaign, a nationwide blood donation campaign every summer.

This event is not only an opportunity for people to share precious drops of blood but also shows the spirit of solidarity and mutual love between the two peoples of Vietnam and Thailand, Khoi stressed.
