The delegation of the US Veterans for Peace visited Da Nang
(VNF) - The Da Nang Union of Friendship Organizations (DAFO) and the city's Vietnam-U.S. Friendship Association have welcomed members of the U.S. Veterans For Peace (VFP) group, who commit themselves in peace, humanitarian work, writing books and articles about the consequences of Agent Orange on March 14th.

Mr. Huynh Duc Truong, Chairman of DAFO welcomed the U.S. war veteran delegation to Vietnam, and recognised their active contributions to healing the pain of war between the two countries in the past.
The 14-member delegation came to Vietnam in its annual spring tour and led by its Vice President Chuck Searcy, is visiting Vietnam from March 5th to 21st.
At the meeting, DAFO Chairman Huynh Duc Truong appreciated the supports VFP has done for Vietnam, particularly the assistance they have been providing to the AO victims in Vietnam.
He also briefed the current socio-economic development of Da Nang, positive results of DAFO and the Vietnam-U.S. Friendship Association of the city in the fields of peace, solidarity, friendship and cooperation of Da Nang people with those of other countries.
He hoped VFP would increasingly involve in solving the war consequences, especially helping local AO victims.

Asso. Prof. Dr Phan Van Hoa, Vice President of the Vietnam-U.S. Friendship Association of Da Nang City emphasised the goals in cooperation between the two sides would never change. It’s reflected in the exchange of ideas and information exchange to find more concrete, practical and effective cooperation methods in the coming time.
"Our country has suffered a lot of pain and loss. After the war, we made great efforts to overcome the consequences of the war and welcomed international organizations and non-governmental organizations to Vietnam.” Mr. Bui Chi Loan, Vice President of the Da Nang War Veterans' Association shared at the meeting.
For his part, Chuck Searcy said that his organisation will continue its efforts to heal the trauma of war while solving the Agent Orange/dioxin issue and assisting in the clearance of leftover unexploded ordnance. He hoped that the overseas Vietnamese community would involve more in dealing with issues related to AO and unexplored ordnance victims./.
