According to the AFC's latest poll results, striker Nguyen Tien Linh beats out the other nine nominees on the nomination list to win with 73.38 percent of the vote.
Linh dominated the votes with 73.38 percent, followed by Iranian star Sardar Azmoun (8.08 percent) and Saudi Arabia’s Firas Al Buraikan (8.2 percent).
In Vietnam’s two World Cup qualifiers in October, Linh played 171 minutes, contributed two goals and had a pass accuracy of 79 percent, although Vietnam lost 2-3 to China and 1-3 to Oman.
Second and third in this poll are Saudi Arabia's Al Buraikan (8.2%) and Iran's Sardar Azmoun (8.08%). Meanwhile, two strikers Wu Lei of China and Son Heung-min of South Korea received only 1.81% and 2.41% of the votes, respectively.
In the third qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup in Asia, Vietnam lost 4 games in a row and has almost no chance of winning tickets to participate in Qatar. However, striker Nguyen Tien Linh played quite impressively as he kept opening fire against China and Oman in the last 2 games.

AFC statedthat Linh "provided a major positive" by scoring on both matchdays despite his side’s defeats.
"Still only 23 years of age, the Becamex Binh Duong striker showed expert positioning and poise beyond his years to find the back of the net in Doha and Muscat, taking his individual tally to an excellent seven goals in the World Cup qualifiers," AFC expressed.
Tien Linh had previously topped the AFC's "Future Star" vote after the third round of the last qualifying round for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Asia on the official fan website on October 8. He won the AFC's latest voting for NEOM's Future Stars of matchday three of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Asian qualifiers, defeating China's Zhang Yuning.
Tien Linh scored 2 goals in the last 2 matches of Vietnam Tel in the third qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup in Asia.
Vietnam Tel is currently the only team in the third qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup in Asia that has not won any points after four matches. Tien Linh and his teammates will play two matches at My Dinh in November, one against Japan and the other against Saudi Arabia.

Since the second qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup, Linh has scored seven goals. Linh equals former striker Le Cong Vinh's record of seven goals in World Cup qualifiers with these seven goals. In the six remaining matches of the third qualifying round, he still has a chance to break Vinh's record.
Vietnam will play the next two World Cup qualifiers at home in November, with Japan on the 11th and Saudi Arabia five days later.
