Two-day festival for GNI’s Youth Development Clubs in Hoa Binh

Over 1,000 students from nine Youth Development Club (YDC) in Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa and Tuyen Quang provinces which were established by Good Neighbors International (GNI) in Vietnam, will participate in a series of exciting and meaningful exchanges in Hoa Binh City on October 13-14.

(VNF) - Over 1,000 students from nine Youth Development Club (YDC) in Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa and Tuyen Quang provinces which were established by Good Neighbors International (GNI) in Vietnam, will participate in a series of exciting and meaningful exchanges in Hoa Binh City on October 13-14.

Youth Development Club (YDC) is one of extra-curricular programs of Education sector, to support children in the project areas for comprehensive development, enhancement of confidence and promotion of their talents through interest-based activities. To ensure fairness in education access, the YDC program creates an environment for children with difficulties to be involved and developed.

From January, 2016 until now, GNI has provided support to establish and operate 32 YDCs at primary and secondary schools, with nearly 1,000 students partaking, most of them are primary school students in 3 project provinces: Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa and Tuyen Quang.

The YDC model is to create a learning and playing environment for students, where they can freely develop their capacities in the fields such as Football (10 clubs), Math (4 clubs), English (3 clubs), Art (4 clubs), Music (5 clubs), Badminton (4 clubs), Badminton (1 club), Science (1 club).

Following the success of the first YDC festival day in Son Duong district, Tuyen Quang province in 2017, GNI will organise the second YDC festival day with participation of members from 32 clubs and thousands of local people.

The festival event aims for club members from three provinces to exchange, learn from each other, and bring out handmade products and artworks for the purpose of propaganda on youth rights as well as promoting talents, fair competition, friendship, team spirit in sport and confidence in the field of culture - art.

The festival will include football, badminton, art competitions, math and traditional folk games such as tug-of-war, bamboo dancing to Amazing race.

In addition to the exchange activities and traditional competions between clubs, students and locals also have a chance to buy handmade products from art, music, English and math clubs.

In particular, a Gala night with dance performances, choir singing performed by club members and the participation of famous singers and MC will bring a night of fun and entertainment to students, parents and hundreds of local people in Hoa Binh city.
