UK and Europe weather forecast latest, November 5: London in "firing line" with snow sweeping across Britain
UK's weather forecast
Temperatures are tipped to plunge from the middle of November and weather maps show the cold snap is likely to coincide with snow falling across large parts of the UK. The new snow risk charts show the weather front is set to move in from the east, prompting snowfall across northern England, the Scottish Highlands, Wales, and even the capital.
Maps from Netweather show the front approaching the east of the UK from the morning of Tuesday, November 17. The chart suggests northern parts of the UK have a slight risk of snow, but this increases dramatically as the day goes on.

By midday, there is almost a 100 percent chance of snowfall in the Scottish Highlands, while northern England and the Midlands are also likely to see flurries of snow, according to the charts.
As 5pm hits, Wales and the Midlands also turn red, indicating a snow risk of over 85 percent. The snow risk continues into the night and spreads further north.
By the early hours of Wednesday, November 18, a weather front appears to move in from the continent, approaching the south of England.
At 9am the charts show London and the southeast are set for snowfall, while the snow showers in northern parts of the UK continue. By 3pm the whole of the south turns light red, covering Devon, Somerset and Dorset.
The weather charts suggest Cornwall might just dodge the snow. Alongside the snowfall, temperatures are set to plunge to -2C.

The wintery conditions look set to retreat from Thursday, November 19. The upcoming snow forecast comes as the Yorkshire Dales saw its first flurry of snow this morning. Locals posted videos and pictures of the snowfall on social media.
Netweather snow risk charts also show there is a chance snow will fall next week. The maps show about a 45 percent chance of snow in the Scottish highlands on Wednesday November 11.
This moderate snow risk continues through to the weekend. The Met Office forecasts the next few weeks will be characterised by unsettled conditions.
But they do expect the period to be fairly dry and accompanied by mild temperatures. Although they said widespread snow was “unlikely” into next week, the Met Office added, “there are a small minority of model solutions which favour a cold easterly pattern for mid-month.”

BBC Weather forecasters expect the mild conditions to be followed by a cold spell mid-November as cooler air moves in from the Arctic. They said: "This increases the likelihood for some frosty nights, cold day and the potential for wintry showers."
On November 5
Pressure brings fine day across much of England and Wales. Plenty of sunshine throughout the day and stay dry. It will also be staying dry and sunny in eastern Scotland as well a central and southern Ireland. Thick cloud and some outbreaks of drizzle affect western Scotland. There may also be broken cloud across southern Scotland but some bright spells are likely here too. Highs at 9 to 11C.

Europe's weather forecast
BBC Weather has forecast "blustery" conditions and scattered showers across parts of Europe during the coming days.
BBC meteorologist Sarah Keith-Lucas stated that despite Finland seeing its warmest November day on record earlier this week, other Scandinavian countries are set for an outpouring of rain. She added that an area of low pressure developing in the southern Mediterranean will bring showers to Turkey and Cyprus.
Ms Keith-Lucas said: "We have seen high temperatures across much of northern Europe in recent days. In fact, Finland saw its warmest ever November day on record. That warm air is now being pushed further east and we are seeing cooler conditions from the north."

"We are going to see rain develop across parts of Spain and southern France. This will rain stretch up to Poland as well on this frontal system."
The BBC meteorologist continued: "There is an area of low pressure developing in the southeast Mediterranean. This will bring heavy rain for Cyprus and across Turkey as well. It will be drier in Greece and Croatia, to the north of that there will be cloud and outbreaks of rain."
"Then we are into the blustery conditions and scattered showers for the likes of Denmark, Sweden, Norway as well."
It comes as the Met Office said Sunday night could see the mildest November temperatures on record as the remnants of tropical Storm Zeta continue to push warm air across the UK
Met Office meteorologist Luke Miall predicted temperatures of up to 17C (62.6F) on Sunday night in the south, which would break the record for the highest daily minimum temperature recorded in November since 1862. The record was set in Eastbourne in November 2005.

Mr Miall said: "Temperatures in the south will rise overnight instead of fall, which is unusual because we have got warm air coming across."
"It's due to ex-Tropical Storm Zeta which caused some very wet and windy weather this week."
"Some of that tropical air is still within the system - it's travelled a long way across the Atlantic over cool waters before reaching the UK but it's very, very moist air, so that's the reason it's putting these temperatures up overnight."
