Various activities marked Vietnamese Teachers’ Day nationwide

(VNF) - A wide variety of activities were held in numerous provinces and cities around the country to celebrate the 34th Vietnamese Teachers’ Day (November 20th, 1982-2016).

The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee held a ceremony to mark Vietnamese Teachers’ Day on November 16th, honouring teachers who greatly contributed to the cause of raising the younger generation.

In the recent 2015-2016 school year, thanks to the efforts of teachers, the city has become the leading unit in the country in fundamentally and comprehensively renewing education and training.

Da Nang City’s Department of Education and Training held a ceremony which 16 organizations and 249 teachers received certificates of merit and medals for the cause of education for their excellent performance.

In addition, Lao Cai’s provincial People’s Committee held a ceremony to honour outstanding teachers in the province. At the event, two local collectives received Labour Orders, six other units and five teachers were presented with the PM’s certificates of merit; and nearly 200 teachers received certificates of merit from the Ministry of Education and Training.

Also on the occasion of the holiday, a meeting was held in the central province of Quang Nam to mark Vietnamese Teachers’ Day and to present certificates of merit from the Ministry of Education and Training to five collectives and 25 inpiduals who made outstanding achievements in the 2015-2016 academic year.

Dong Thap’s provincial Department of Education and Training also honoured 107 officials and teachers who made great efforts in overcoming all difficulties to devote to the cause of education and training in the province.

On November 18th, Vice State President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh received outstanding teachers and education managers across the country in Hanoi on the occasion of the Vietnamese Teachers' Day.

On this occasion, Minister of Education and Training Pham Vu Luan sent a letter to congratulate teachers and education workers nationwide. He said that education reform would continue to be accelerated and coordinated. He also expressed his belief that the teachers and education managers would continue to improve their qualifications and performance to meet the aspirations of the Party, state, and people.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam the same day attended a ceremony to mark the occasion at the National Academy of Politics and Public Administration in Hanoi. He presented the title Meritorious Teacher to six lecturers, the Labor Order to the Academy, and the Prime Minister's certificates of merit to outstanding collectives and inpiduals in training and scientific research.

Similar activities were also held at other military schools and in many localities nationwide to honor outstanding teachers and education managers on this occasion./.
