On April 18, within the framework of "Sustainability Week," the United Nations General Assembly held a high-level discussion session on promoting sustainable development through infrastructure connectivity.

United Nations General Assembly President Dennis Francis highlighted the importance of infrastructure development strategies in achieving all sustainable development goals while emphasizing the need to increase financial support and investment in quality, reliable, and sustainable infrastructure.

Countries participating in the discussion session shared experiences, good practices, and challenges to narrow the gap in infrastructure development and connectivity and promote partnership, solidarity, and innovation for sustainable infrastructure development.

Speaking at the discussion session, Ambassador and Head of the Vietnamese Delegation to the United Nations Dang Hoang Giang affirmed that promoting connectivity between and within countries is essential for economic development, job creation, ensuring supply chain efficiency, and enhancing sustainability.

To promote infrastructure connection, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang proposed strengthening international cooperation and solidarity, through financial and technical support to narrow the gap in infrastructure development, especially with developing countries.

Countries need to strengthen the resilience of their infrastructure systems through investments in renewable energy, green transport technology, and digital infrastructure, with the institutional and financial contributions of both the public and private sectors.

Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang emphasized that building a modern and synchronous infrastructure system is one of three strategic breakthroughs of the Vietnamese Government for sustainable development.
