Vietnam among five countries most affected by natural disasters
A meeting marking the International Day for Disaster Reduction (October 13) was organized by Vietnam Red Cross Society, International Red Crescent Society and the National Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevent in Tam Ky city of Quang Nam province this morning.
Vietnam among five countries most affected by natural disaster
World Disaster Report 2016 showed that, up to 98.6 million people worldwide were affected by natural disaster last year. 2015 was also considered as the most severe drought since 1880, with hottest temperature ever recorded.
Vietnam is among the five countries most severely affected by natural disaster and climate change. The country suffers from 10 to 15 hurricanes, floods every year, affecting 50% of land area.
The 2016 International Day for Disaster Reduction titled ‘Live to share’ , aiming to call for each inpidual to share lessons and experiences about dealing with natural disaster and climate change.

On the occasion, the organization board has selected Hoa Huong Ward of Tam Ky city to launch a conference about this topic./.
