Vietnam and India Join Forces to Support Start-ups

On April 2 (local time), the Vietnamese Embassy in India and the Technology Innovation Hub For Corobics (IFC) (Indian Institute of Technology) co-hosted the Vietnam-India Startup Seminar in New Delhi for the first time.

The Vietnamese side included Ambassador the Vietnamese Ambassador to India Nguyen Thanh Hai, Deputy Director of the Foreign Market Development Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Do Quoc Hung, Chairman of the National Startup Association Dinh Viet Hoa. Meanwhile, the Indian side included Director in charge of Administration of the Directorate of Science and Technology of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology A. Dhanalakshmi and Project Director of IHFC S.K. Saha.
In his remarks, Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai assessed that this event is a concrete step to realize the bilateral agreement agreed by the leaders of the two countries on the occasion of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's state visit to India last year.
The two Prime Ministers agreed to encourage the two sides to exchange and cooperate more in the fields of innovation, technology and entrepreneurship, the Vietnamese diplomat said.
On the other hand, Deputy Director Do Quoc Hung said that over the years, both India and Vietnam have achieved proud achievements in economic development and innovation. His suggestions for young people to start a business in the two countries first highlighted the importance of developing a multinational e-commerce platform. The second suggestion is about the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology and big data; third is payment and smart logistics. The last two are to promote e-commerce of agricultural products and to strengthen data protection and privacy.
Director A. Dhanalakshmi shared India's experience in nurturing human resources for startups continuously through the education system such as entrepreneurship, English, STEM, student exchange with foreign countries, the finding and incubating startups to produce startups in all fields like today. She also highlighted the urgent need now to focus on supporting startups in the field of deep technology.
India and Vietnam should strengthen relations in the field of science and technology, exchange students, noted A. Dhanalakshmi. Improving the quality of education as well as science and technology capacity and creating conditions for sustainable development for both countries are also priorities.
At the end of the workshop, representatives of IHFC and the Vietnam Entrepreneurs Association signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Cooperation Program on the Development of Innovation Ecosystem and Creative Business. Accordingly, two sides will cooperate in implementing many support contents for businesses and start-ups of the two countries to innovate, improve the quality of human resources, share human resources of the two sides, advise corporations, businesses and localities on the establishment, deploy and operate innovation and start-up centers.
