Vietnam - United States Cooperate to Strengthen Women's Empowerment

In his opening speech, Chairman of the Union of Friendship Organizations of Da Nang City Nguyen Ngoc Binh said that the event is the initial activity in the cooperation program between the Union of Friendship Organizations of Da Nang City and Catalyste+ Organization for the period 2024 - 2026.

The workshop hopes to attract highly qualified international experts to support Da Nang city in areas where the city has needs for the purpose of improving the effectiveness of attracting foreign non-governmental resources. It focuses on promoting the role of people-to-people diplomacy in the relationship with foreign non-governmental resource. Another focus is building and developing a network of experts and consultants in the field of innovative startups, especially women startups in Da Nang.

At the workshop, researchers, economic managers, policy makers, entrepreneurs, business communities, associations, domestic and foreign investment funds joined each other to exchange and share good models, effective and successful practices in the field of startups and innovation. The parties also analyzed and evaluated the current situation and policies to support women startups for women in Da Nang city to reach recommendations for women to confidently start innovative businesses.

The workshop consists of 2 sessions. The first was themed "Women and the issue of innovative startups", followed by the second session on "Activities to support women in innovative startups."

Seven papers were presented at the event; "Productivity ecosystem for sustainable employment," "Challenges and opportunities for innovative start-ups of women in Da Nang," "Policies of Da Nang city government to support women in innovative start-ups," "Policies, models, and experiences of some countries in the world in successfully operating innovative start-up ecosystems to support women in starting businesses," "Elements in the innovative start-up ecosystem: Operating the innovative start-up ecosystem to support women in Da Nang." There are also presentations on "The importance and ways to build a mentoring network to support women in starting businesses" and "Introducing the 2024 Mentoring Program to support women in starting businesses of Catalyste+ (Canada)". Many successful female entrepreneurs share their stories at the event.

The international workshop on “Women and Innovative Startups” is an open forum for economic researchers, policy makers, and successful entrepreneurs. They can meet, discuss, and share issues arising in the field of women’s startups and innovation. It hopes to promote the city’s innovative startup activities in general, supporting women in the city in particular. Participants can improve their capabilities to effectively participate in innovative startup activities, contributing positively to the socio-economic development goals of the city and the country.

The Organizing Committee will select suitable cases from the event to be the core for a network of consultants in charge of guiding business women throughout the city.
