Within the framework of his official visit to Indonesia, on August 7, Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue had a meeting with Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

President Joko Widodo warmly welcomed and appreciated the significance of the visit to Indonesia by the Chairman of the National Assembly on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam-Indonesia strategic partnership (2013-2023). The visit helps create a driving force for the two countries' cooperation to develop deeper and more substantive. He said the Indonesia-Vietnam strategic partnership not only benefits the two countries but also contributes to peace, stability and prosperity in the region.

The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that Vietnam attaches great importance to the strategic partnership with Indonesia. He said the friendly relationship and good cooperation between the two countries was built by President Sukarno and President Ho Chi Minh, and nurtured by generations of leaders of the two countries.

Hue congratulated the 78th anniversary of Indonesia's National Day and firmly believed that Indonesia will continue to reap many achievements in all aspects, with an increasing role and position in the world.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue informed President Joko Widodo of the results of his official visit to Indonesia and the 44th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-44). He said the National Assembly of the two countries signed an agreement to further promote parliamentary relations, making a practical contribution to strengthening the relationship between the two countries.

The two leaders expressed their delight at the rapid and effective development of the Vietnam-Indonesia strategic partnership in all key areas.

In particular, trade cooperation made great progress, two-way turnover in 2022 reached more than US$14 billion, surpassing 2021 and reaching the highest level ever.

Regarding major directions to further promote bilateral relations, the two sides agreed to continue promoting exchange of delegations, high-level contacts at all levels and channels, effectively implementing signed agreements.

The President of Indonesia agreed with the National Assembly Chairman on strengthening the maintenance of existing supply chains, working closely to form new strategic supply chains.

The two countries continue to strengthen cooperation in the fields of marine, fisheries and new fields such as digital transformation and equitable energy transition.

President Widodo thanked Vietnam for its support for Indonesia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2023, and suggested Vietnam continue its coordination to enhance ASEAN’s centrality and implement the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific.
