Vietnam and Laos agree on increased energy cooperation
Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung on July 21st received Viraphonh Viravong, Lao Deputy Minister of Energy and Mines, who is on a visit to Vietnam to discuss ways to increase cooperation in energy with Vietnam, especially the production and transmission of electricity between the two countries.

According to the Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister, Vietnam and Laos have a special brotherhood, which is a valuable asset fostered by the two peoples. “At present, the two countries are accelerating cooperation in many areas, especially in trade and investment,” he said.
Laos holds great potential and advantages in the energy sector, especially in the production and transmission of electricity. Over the past years, a large number of Vietnamese enterprises have invested in electricity projects in Laos.
Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung suggested that the two sides should make a thorough survey on the potential to carry out projects on electricity production and transmission.
Lao Deputy Minister of Energy and Mines Viraphonh Viravong said that the Lao Party, State and Government paid great importance to the energy sector, especially in electricity production and transmission. “Laos hopes to increase cooperation with Vietnam’s large enterprises in this area,” he said./.
