Meeting with Governor Enrique Alfaro Ramírez, Ambassador Nguyen Hoai Duong expressed his desire to increase exchanges between businesses of Jalisco State and Vietnamese localities in order to promote bilateral trade and investment ties.

For his part, Governor Ramírez voiced his state’s willingness to strengthen trade and economic ties with Vietnamese localities. He emphasized the potential for cooperation between the two sides in strategic areas such as manufacturing, information technology, footwear, furniture and garment making.

Both host and guest agreed that businesses of the two countries need to take advantage of the opportunities offered by free trade agreements, especially the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

While in Jalisco, Ambassador Duong attended the opening ceremony of the Honorary Consulate Office of Vietnam in Guadalajara City. This is the first Honorary Consular Office of Vietnam in Mexico and Latin America.

He noted that bilateral trade exchanges between Vietnam and Mexico have increased by 10-15% annually over the past 10 years, hitting nearly US$4 billion last year.

Meanwhile, Honorary Consul Miguel Angel Landeros vowed to boost Mexico-Vietnam cooperation in all fields.

Landeros, who is also the Chairman of COMCE de Occidente, announced that he would soon organize a fact-finding trip to Vietnam for Mexican businesses to explore the market.
