Gold rate

At 8:30 am this morning, June 6, the global gold price stood at US$1,853 per ounce, a slight increase of US$2 per ounce compared to the closing session last week.

In the domestic market, at the opening session of this week, Saigon Jewelry Company listed the price of SJC gold at VND 68.65 million and VND 69.57 million per tael in selling and buying transactions respectively, down VND 100,000 per compared to last week's closing session.

Reference exchange rate

The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate for the US dollar at VND 23,062/USD on June 6, down VND 7 from the last working day of the previous week (June 3). With the current trading band of +/-3 percent, the ceiling rate applied to commercial banks during the day is VND 23,754/USD, and the floor rate is VND 22,369/USD.

The opening-hour rates at commercial banks also dropped. At 8:40 am, Vietcombank listed the buying rate at VND 23,025/USD, and the selling rate at VND 23,335/USD, both down VND 15 from the rates at the end of June 3. BIDV also reduced both rates by VND 20, listing at VND 23,050/USD (buying) and VND 23,330/USD (selling).

Aviation news: Sharp passenger, goods hike in aviation

As many as 40.7 million passengers, including 1.8 million foreigners, have gone through airports across the country so far this year, representing year-on-year rises of 56.8 percent and 904.6 percent, respectively, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).

Meanwhile, domestic and foreign flights from and to Vietnam carried an estimated 765.000 tonnes of goods, up 30.6 percent from the same period last year. Domestic carriers served 20.1 million passengers in the reviewed period, up 56.1 percent compared to the same period last year. Of them, 667,000 were foreigners, up 1.033 percent, while the increase of domestic travelers was 51.8 percent.

Airports across the country are expected to serve 87.8 million passengers and handle 1.5 million tonnes of goods in 2022, up 190 percent and 5 percent compared to 2021.

Weather Forecast

June 6 - 11: Due to the influence of thunderstorms, the heat in the North ended. Today's lowest temperature is around 23-26 Celsius degrees, while the highest is 29-32 degrees. It is forecasted that heavy rain will continue in the North until June 11, mainly in the evening and at night.
