During the forum, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong emphasized that economic and trade cooperation is a key pillar of the relationships between Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos. He expressed confidence that the forum would deliver a positive message and yield tangible results for the three nations.

Ouk Sophon, Cambodia's Under Secretary of State for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, highlighted the significance of the friendship among the three countries. He noted that they can build a dynamic ecosystem that fosters mutually beneficial cooperation for their people through strengthened collaboration.

He reaffirmed Cambodia’s readiness to work closely with Vietnam and Laos, supporting businesses from all three countries in their efforts to thrive and create new opportunities for economic growth, innovation, and shared prosperity.

Cambodia's Under Secretary of State for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ouk Sophon further remarked that the forum demonstrated the collective effort of the three nations to bring together investors, private sector representatives, and government officials to exchange detailed insights on advancing their partnerships in the current global landscape. More importantly, he emphasized that this cooperation would transform untapped potential into concrete benefits, contributing to each country's and its citizens' prosperity.

At the event, participants were presented with reports on economic, trade, and investment cooperation between Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos, and each country's policies to attract investment. The forum also facilitated discussions about the activities of Vietnamese businesses operating in Cambodia and Laos, with participants offering suggestions to enhance trade and business linkages.

In the first eight months of 2024, Vietnam and Cambodia recorded a bilateral trade turnover of US $6.8 billion, a 14.5% increase from last year, with projections to reach US $10 billion by year-end. Meanwhile, trade between Vietnam and Laos has shown stable growth, with their bilateral trade turnover reaching US $1.65 billion in 2023.

Vietnam is currently one of the top investors in both Cambodia and Laos. The country has 205 investment projects in Cambodia with a total value of approximately US $2.95 billion, and 245 projects in Laos with a total investment of about US $5.5 billion.
