Vietnam congratulates Mauritius on National Day anniversary

(VNF) – State President Tran Dai Quang cabled a congratulatory message to Mauritian President Ameenah Gurib on the occasion of the 49^th anniversary of the National Day of the Republic of Mauritius (Mar 12^th, 1968 - 2017).

On the same day, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc conveyed a message of greetings to his Mauritian counterpart Pravind Kumar Jugnauth.

Mauritius, an Indian Ocean archipelago, is seen as a model of stability and economic prosperity in the region.

Once dependent on sugar exports, the island has built up a strong outsourcing and financial services sector, and an important tourism industry and now boasts one of Africa's highest per capita incomes.

Vietnam and Mauritius established diplomatic relations on May 4^th, 1994.

Since then, the two sides have been working hard to harness potentials of cooperation, especially in the fields of finance-banking, aquaculture, maritime service, tourism.

With a view to pave the way for further economic cooperations, the two countries are negotiating on several agreements regarding double taxation avoidance, investment promotion & protection and aviation cooperation./.
