Vietnam congratulates Mauritius on National Day anniversary
(VNF) – State President Tran Dai Quang cabled a congratulatory message to Mauritian President Ameenah Gurib on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of the National Day of the Republic of Mauritius (Mar 12th, 1968 - 2017).
On the same day, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc conveyed a message of greetings to his Mauritian counterpart Pravind Kumar Jugnauth.
Mauritius, an Indian Ocean archipelago, is seen as a model of stability and economic prosperity in the region.
Once dependent on sugar exports, the island has built up a strong outsourcing and financial services sector, and an important tourism industry and now boasts one of Africa's highest per capita incomes.

Vietnam and Mauritius established diplomatic relations on May 4th, 1994.
Since then, the two sides have been working hard to harness potentials of cooperation, especially in the fields of finance-banking, aquaculture, maritime service, tourism.
With a view to pave the way for further economic cooperations, the two countries are negotiating on several agreements regarding double taxation avoidance, investment promotion & protection and aviation cooperation./.
