'Vietnam Days in Switzerland 2021' to be Held Online

On Sept. 24, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnam’s representative bodies in Switzerland and the Embassy of Switzerland in Vietnam co-organized the press conference “Vietnam Days in Switzerland 2021.” The event is a part of the Vietnam Days abroad program, an annual event to promote Vietnam held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2010.

A major event to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Switzerland, theVietnam Days in Switzerland 2021 contributes to tightening the friendship between the two countries and promoting a modern yet culturally rich Vietnam to the Swiss and European public.

The Vietnam Days in Switzerland 2021 is a part of the 2021 Vietnam Days abroad program, a promotional event held annually by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2010. The program aims to introduce to international friends the latest images of a friendly, dynamic and culturally rich Vietnam that is ready to cooperate with Switzerland in all aspects.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2021 Vietnam Days abroad program will be held online on Oct. 9, 2021. Specifically, the Vietnam Days in Switzerland will consist of 5 main parts: “Hello Switzerland! Hello Europe!” “Original Culture,” “Miracle Vietnam,” “Future Generations,” and “See you in Vietnam.”

Through unique performances, impressive footage and the sharing of inviting guests, the audience will be introduced to the lively, friendly ties that have been existing between Vietnam and Switzerland in the past 50 years and gain insights into the iconic landscapes, culture and people of both countries.

Participating in the program, the audience will also have opportunities to meet top artists and athletes and listen to their experiences about the typical culture, cuisine, landscapes and people of Vietnam.

In addition, the event is an occasion for outstanding intellectuals and businessmen to share about their journey maturing alongside the development of Vietnam. They are representatives of the future generation, who have been nurturing the relations between Vietnam and other countries.

The program will welcome cultural ambassadors who have contributed to tightening the relations between the two countries, such as Ambassador of Switzerland to Vietnam Ivo Sieber, Ambassador of Vietnam to Switzerland Le Linh Lan, Head of Vietnam’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, the World Trade Organization and other international organizations in Geneva Le Thi Tuyet Mai, and Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Switzerland Philipp Rosler.

The program will be live-streamed on different platforms such as the Vietnam Days Abroad Fanpage, Vietnam Days Abroad Youtube Channel and the Fanpage and Youtube channels of VTV4. As it will be held online, the audience can interact with the program to have the most authentic and memorable experiences.

At the press conference, the organizers also introduced the official website of the Vietnam Days in Switzerland 2021 (https://vietnamdaysabroad.mofa.gov.vn/). The website will provide the most updated information about the event and the highlights of Vietnam – Switzerland relations.

Speaking at the press conference, Deputy Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tran Quoc Khanh said “to organize an event of this scale online amidst the Covid-19 pandemic is extremely challenging. However, we have turned challenges into opportunities and put our heart and soul into making the program as lively and authentic as possible.”

Khanh added that “we hope the program will not only tighten the relations between Vietnam and Switzerland but also introduce to the Swiss and European public a Vietnam with a rich culture that is modern, friendly and ready to cooperate with other countries in the world.”
