Vietnam, El Salvador develop committees of solidarity

(VNF) - Vietnam always attaches great importance to the expansion of friendly and cooperative relations with Latin America region, including El Salvador, said Vice President cum Secretary General of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organinzaions during his reception to Deputy Foreign Minister of El Salvador Carlos Castañeda on August 28.

VUFO Vice President cum Secretary General Don Tuan Phong welcomes Deputy Foreign Minister of El Salvador Carlos Castañeda to visit Vietnam. The two sides discussed the possibility to promote bilateral friendship and cooperation.

Mr. Don Tuan Phong affirmed that Vietnam always attaches great importance to the expansion of friendly and cooperative relations with Latin America, including El Salvador.

VUFO Vice President said Vietnam and El Salvador have strengths and potentials to support each other. Especially, people’s organizations of the two countries should promote many exchange activities.

“Our dream is a world of peace. And to do this, people all over the world must understand, share and unite. Peace is the premise of development for a nation. I believe with good traditions of Vietnam and El Salvador since the 1980s, the two countries will have closer and more comprehensive cooperation through friendly exchange activities in the future”, said Don Tuan Phong.

VUFO Vice President appreciated and sincerely thanked El Salvador for its support for Vietnamese candidate for UNESCO Director General from Round 2. He expected El Salvador to continue supporting Vietnam in next rounds.

For his part, El Salvador Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Castañeda said he has known the long and fierce war of the Vietnamese people for defending his fatherland since a child. During that time, he was one of the El Salvadorans who supported the end of the war in Vietnam.

El Salvadoran official expressed his desire to learn about Vietnam’s development experience, especially in the field of agriculture. Simultaneously, Vietnam and El Salvador have many similarities, so they need to increase exchanges and mutual support and bilateral cooperation in many areas, he said.The Deputy Minister expressed his hope that in the coming time, there will be cooperation between the Solidarity Committee of Farabundo Marti and the Solidarity Committee of Vietnam to expand the exchange of experiences and forms of cooperation. Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Castañeda affirmed that solidarity and friendship is the foundation of the durable relationship between the two countries.

Within the framework of the visit from August 28-29, El Salvado Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Castaneda will attend the launching ceremony of the El Salvador Honourary Consulate Office in Ho Chi Minh city.
