Actively propagate Vietnam’s image to international friends

During the 2013-2018 term, the Vietnam Esperanto Association (the Association) always receives the attention and close guidance of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and the International Esperanto Organization. As a result, the activities and movements of the Association in the past 5 years have been growing strongly.

The Association successfully hosted the 9th Asia and Oceania Congress (AK-9), which will take place in April 2019 in the coastal city of Da Nang.

Sharing about this, Mr. Nguyen Van Loi, Chairman of Vietnam Esperanto Association said: “Successfully hosting AK-9 is a great honor because it is an event with thousands of participants. Vietnam has hosted the 1999 AK-2 and the World Esperanto Conference in 2012. Previous events were all concerned by the Party and the State. Many foreigners have never been to Vietnam, they still only think about Vietnam through the image of war. So hosting the AK-9 is a good opportunity for international friends to see our country, culture and people.''

Nghia shared, in any movement, young forces also hold an important position. However, the number of young people in the Esperanto movement in Vietnam is still not significant due to not good propaganda.

Nghia said, Esperanto is a fairly easy subject to learn. As a person who frequently uses English and Chinese at work, Mr. Tran Tuan Nghia said that studying Esperanto would be very good for learning other foreign languages (of Latin origin). Thanks to Esperanto, he had opportunity to attend conference in Korea and Japan. In an Esperanto community together, people have a feeling of closeness and attachment like a family.

Mr. Nghia proposed that Vietnam Esperanto Association could coordinate with the Youth Union to expand the Esperanto Movement for young people. Currently there are many Esperanto classes that are open and free for young people to participate.
