Vietnam - France Music Exchange Night Attracts over 1,500 Attendees

The Vietnam - France Music Exchange Night was organised in the central city of Da Nang to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and France (April 12, 1973 - April 12, 2023), 10 years of their strategic partnership (September 2013 - 2023), and the 41st anniversary of World Music Day.
More than 1,500 people attended the show including delegates at the central level, city leaders, the French Embassy in Vietnam, foreign diplomatic missions located in the city, Da Nang's officials and residents.
At the event, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Ho Ky Minh said the relations of friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and France have grown strongly. France is currently the third biggest European investor in Vietnam. More than 7,000 Vietnamese students are studying in France and about 1,500 Vietnamese students travel to France for studying every year.
In Vietnam, the number of students learning French ranks second with nearly 40,000 learners in 35 provinces and cities nationwide, just after those learning English.
Minh added that Da Nang city also sees remarkable progress in its cooperation with France. Through people-to-people diplomacy activities such as exchanges, meetings, art performances, conferences and seminars, it has contributed to promoting the people-to-people relations closer together, creating a good premise for the development cooperation between Vietnam and France.
"The recent imprints of French cooperation in Da Nang in recent times can be mentioned as the project to enhance the value of the Cham Museum; the construction of the French club headquarters; the Dam Rong district maintenance project; the project serving community and residential development in cooperation between the French Development Agency (AFD) and the Da Nang Development Investment Fund; the project to provide equipment for Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted."
Da Nang also signed Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation with Sens city and French businesses on cooperation in tourism development, promotion, promotion and introduction of Da Nang to the French and European markets, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh emphasized.
According to Minh, educational cooperation between Da Nang and France also is constantly being promoted. The City People's Committee and the French Embassy have signed an agreement on educational cooperation on staff training under the project on Development of high-quality human resources. Up to now, the city has sent 51 undergraduate and postgraduate students to study in France at level. The Da Nang University also signed many joint training projects with the Nantes University, the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis and Grenoble Alpes University.
Sophie Maysonnave, Counselor for Cultural Cooperation and Activities at the French Embassy, Director of the French Institute in Vietnam, said that the musical performance honours values that have linked the two countries in the past, present and future, and the goodwill of both countries to continue building and developing this relationship.
The Vietnam - France Music Exchange Night includes performances and art exchanges between Vietnamese and French artists. Performances from the Vietnamese side are performed by artists from Da Nang-based Trung Vuong Theater, gold medal winners at the Da Nang Francophone Singing Festival in 2023, and the representative repertoire of the city's Vietnam - France Friendship Association.
The French sides included French musician and singer Dorothée Hannequin, alias The Rodeo, and her team members.
Her music style combines pop and rock and is inspired by Europop between the 1960s and 1970s. The artist, whose mother is Vietnamese and father French, discovered music at the age of 15.
