Vietnam imports more than 420 cars per day

According to the General Department of Customs, in the last four months, Vietnam imported 50,682 cars of all kinds. Compared to the number in the same period last year, this figure is more than 7.5 times.

According to preliminary statistics of the General Department of Customs, car imports in April 2019 reached 10,868 units, worth USD 244 million.

More than half of cars imported from Thailand, with 5,620 units, accounting for 51,7%. It is followed by Indonesia with 3,669 units, China with 467 units and Japan with 308 units.

Regarding types of vehicles, cars with less than 9 seats accounted for more than 81%, with 8,839 units.

Interesting information is that the number of car with less than 9 seats imported from Indonesia likely exceed that from Thailand.

Specifically, in April, cars originating from Thailand were 4,127 units, down sharply by 34.5% over the previous month. While cars imported from Indonesia were 3,666 units, up 48.4%.

Imported trucks are 1,583 units, worth USD 48.5 million. In particular, there are 1,493 cars originating from Thailand, accounting for 94% of the total of these vehicles imported to Vietnam in April. However, the amount of trucks imported from Thailand in April decreased. 60% compared to the previous month.
