Doanh said Vietnam is willing to share experience with Mozambique in rice and soybean production, and has partnered with several African countries to successfully develop agriculture.
He also suggested seeking funding from the third parties for their projects.
Meque, for her part, spoke highly of joint projects on growing agricultural plants in Mozambique, saying that Vietnamese rice varieties grown in the African country generate yields beyond expectations.
Mozambique wants to work with scientists to study short-season varieties that are resistant to drought, pests and salinity, and partner with Vietnam to build a cashew nut processing plant using Vietnamese technology in the African country, she said.
She added that Mozambique is strong in cotton cultivation with a total capacity of 80,000 tonnes per year and invited Vietnamese fiber plants to get involved.
The guest said Mozambique will also cooperate with Vietnam in fisheries in the near future.
According to her, agriculture is one of the four important areas set by the Mozambican government. She expressed her wish that more Vietnamese firms will invest in agriculture in the country.
Vietnam and Mozambique have signed many agreements and cooperation deals in the fields of economics, trade, investment, culture, education, science and technology. Two-way trade turnover increased three times, from USD 13.83 million in 2006 to USD 45.35 million in 2010. The figure was USD 101 million in 2016, with Vietnam exporting over USD 72.5 million worth of commodities to the African country./.
