Vietnam registered more than 28,000 new coronavirus infections on April 10, a record low in the past two months.
Official data from the Ministry of Health show that 28,307 infections were recorded in 62 cities and provinces across the country, a fall of nearly 6,000 cases compared to the previous day.
All the fresh infections were locally acquired, including 20,635 cases diagnosed in the community, or 73% of the total caseload.
Daily Covid-19 cases have nosedived considerably over the past month, and experts all agree that the outbreak has passed its peak and is on the downward trajectory in Vietnam.
Localities have gradually resumed the majority of services for the past weeks, showing they have flexibly adapted themselves to the government-adopted strategy of living safely with Covid-19, cited VOV.
As of 06pm on April 10, Vietnam has documented nearly 10.2 million infections, ranking 12th out of 227 countries and territories worldwide.
Of the total, more than 8.5 million patients have recovered, and nearly 43,000 patients have died of the virus and underlying illnesses.
As many as 208.5 million Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered nationwide.
Vietnam is set to vaccinate children aged 5 to 11 this April, using the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine approved by the Ministry of Health.
The ministry is scheduled to receive approximately 7 million doses of the vaccine donated by the Australian Government this month.
