Additional 2,727 Covid-19 infections confirmed on August 31
Vietnam recorded 2,727 new Covid-19 cases on August 31, according to the Ministry of Health.
The new infections brought the country’s total caseload to 11,411,679.
A total of 8,489 patients were declared to recover from the disease, lifting the total number of recoveries to 10,178,760. Meanwhile, there are 149 patients needing breathing support, cited VNA.
No death from Covid-19 was recorded in the past 24 hours. The total fatalities stood at 43,117.
On August 30, an additional 354,499 doses of vaccines were administered, raising the total number of doses of Covid-19 vaccines injected to 256,646,264.
Vietnam records 70 deaths by dengue fever so far this year
Localities in Vietnam have logged as many as 179,011 dengue fever cases, including 70 deaths, since the beginning of an outbreak earlier this year, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).
The MoH also revealed that the past week alone saw Vietnam confirm roughly 8,900 infections, a decline of 18% compared to the previous week.

The capital of Hanoi has so far this year recorded a total of 1,342 cases, a three-fold increase compared to the same period from last year, although no deaths have been reported.
Meanwhile, about 48,756 cases have been uncovered across Ho Chi Minh City, including 947 severe cases. In comparison to the same period last year, the number of dengue fever infections has seen a six-fold increase, according to VOV.
The health sector is encouraging people to remain vigilant and to continuously inspect and clean water containers in order to prevent larvae and potential mosquito bites.
The domestic aviation industry makes a strong breakthrough
The number of domestic flight passengers recorded a strong recovery and breakthrough following the Covid-19 pandemic, according to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) . During the peak of the summer of 2022, the number of passengers increased markedly compared to 2019 , such as 40% in June, 42% in July and 40% in August.
Many airports have exceeded the announced capacity at domestic passenger terminals including Con Dao, Cat Bi, Phu Quoc, Lien Khuong and Cam Ranh.

During the 2010-2019 period, with a growth rate of more than 15% per year, Vietnam's aviation market was assessed to be the 5th fastest growing in the world and the fastest in Southeast Asia.
However, in 2020 and 2021, the Covid-19 pandemic pushed back the development of the aviation industry around the world, causing negative consequences for the units in the air transport chain, especially the airlines.
Due to the closure of the international market, domestic airlines almost completely stopped international operations, while the domestic market also declined seriously, reported NDO.
In the past two years, Vietnam's aviation market saw a sharp decrease of 42.1% and 80% respectively compared to 2019.
However, since the beginning of 2022, the operation of Vietnam's aviation has recovered and started to grow, especially in domestic passenger volume. Specifically, the number of passengers was estimated at nearly 66 million, including nearly 61 million domestic ones.
The ACV requires airports to shortly coordinate in operations and ensure the safety of flight operations and service quality.
Vietnam among top five tourist markets of Singapore
Singapore, which fully reopened in April, hosted more than 107,000 Vietnamese arrivals in the first seven months.
Keith Tan, Chief Executive Officer at the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), said the number of Vietnamese tourists to Singapore is surging and ranked fifth among the international arrivals in the country after Indonesia, India, Australia, and Malaysia.

The ranking is the highest ever achieved by Vietnam so far, he added.
Tan attributed the growth of Vietnamese visitors to the reopening of up to 90% of the air routes between the nations compared to the time before the Covid-19 pandemic. On these routes, about 128 flights are operated weekly, cited VNA.
The STB will coordinate with other competent agencies to minimise the compulsory procedures for entries into Singapore, he said.
In 2019, about 600,000 Vietnamese visited the island nation.

This is an annual activity that has been held by the Vietnamese Embassy in France over the past years to create a playing ground for Vietnamese families and their children to meet and explore the traditional culture.
Addressing the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang praised children for recording significant achievements in their study over the past year. The diplomat encouraged them to continue studying hard, maintaining Vietnamese tradition, and actively participating in community activities to help preserve the traditional culture, VOV reported.
During the festival, the children participated in traditional games and watched lion dances and a lantern procession, as well as enjoying delicious moon cakes.
