Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum welcomes over 30,500 visitors on National Day

The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Hanoi welcomed 30,575 visitors, including 231 foreigners, on the National Day (September 2), according to its management board.

The board closely coordinated with Hanoi’s Public Security Department and local agencies, units and authorities to create favorable conditions for people and international tourists to visit the mausoleum conveniently and safely.

The Hanoi Department of Tourism and the mausoleum management board delivered free water, milk and pastry for all visitors on the day, cited VNA.

President Ho Chi Minh was born on May 19, 1890 in Kim Lien commune, Nam Dan district, Nghe An province. He devoted his whole life to the cause of national liberation, while tirelessly striving for peace and progress around the world.

He led the struggle for national independence and established the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, in 1945.

The President passed away in 1969. His body was embalmed and placed in a glass coffin inside the granite mausoleum.

The mausoleum has become an important landmark of the capital city and is integral to the political and social history of Vietnam.

Storm Yagi appears in East Sea

A storm with the international name of Yagi, the third one this year, has moved into the water to the east of Luzon Island of the Philippines, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting reported on September 2.

At 1 p.m., the centre of the storm was located at approximately 16.1 degrees North latitude and 122.5 degrees East longitude in the sea, east of Luzon Island of the Philippines. The strongest winds near its centre were at category eight of between 62 and 74 km/h, gusts at level 11, moving in a north-northwest direction at speeds of approximately 20 km/h.

Over the next 72 to 120 hours, the storm is likely to move to the west at speeds of between 10 to 15km per hour, with its intensity likely to increase further.

It is forecast that around the night of September 3, Storm YAGI will enter the East Sea. From the afternoon of September 3, the wind in the northeastern sea area of ​​the East Sea will gradually increase to level six, and even rising to category eight near the storm’s centre, with gusts over level 11 with rough seas, according to VOV.

From September 4 to September 6, Storm YAGI may reach strong levels in the northeast of the East Sea, with maximum wind strengths reaching level 12 and gusts at category 15 near the eye of the storm.

Moving forward to the next 24 hours, the sea area in the northeastern part of the East Sea will endure waves two to four metres high, increasing to between five to seven metres high from September 4 to September 6 as conditions in the sea become rough and dangerous for boats and ships.

The same day, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development issued Official Dispatch No. 475 on responding to the storm near the East Sea to the People's Committees of coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Phu Yen; the ministries of National Defence, Public Security, Natural Resources and Environment, Transport, Industry and Trade, Information and Communications, Foreign Affairs; Vietnam News Agency, Vietnam Television, and Voice of Vietnam.

Vietnam’s National Day celebrated in various countries

Lao Ambassador to France Kham-Inh Khitchadeth and the embassy’s staff visited the Vietnamese Embassy in France on August 31 to offer congratulations on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2, 1945-2024).

Thanking the Lao embassy’s staff for their greetings, Vietnamese Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang affirmed that he will continue to maintain and enhance close coordination and cooperation between the two embassies to positively contribute to protecting, preserving, and promoting the unique and invaluable relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

Earlier on August 30, Ambassador Anouparb Vongnorkeo, head of the Lao Delegation to the United Nations (UN), paid a visit to the Vietnamese Delegation to the UN on the occasion of Vietnam's National Day, during which he highly valued the close and trustworthy coordination between the two sides, hoping for more effective cooperation in the coming time.

Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, thanked the sentiments of the Lao Ambassador and friends. Giang asserted that he will maintain support for the Lao Delegation in successfully assuming the role as Chair of the ASEAN Committee in New York.

The two diplomats agreed to continue building on the tradition and positive results of cooperation between their delegations in New York, thus contributing to promoting the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

On the same day, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Japan’s Osaka prefecture held a ceremony to mark the National Day.

Consul General Ngo Trinh Ha said that over the past 79 years, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnamese people have overcome numerous difficulties and achieved significant accomplishments in their struggles to protect independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, as well as in rebuilding the country after the wars. Vietnam's economy continues to grow robustly, and its foreign relations and international integration are becoming increasingly extensive, with the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan making progress across various areas, including trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges.

Deputy Governor of Osaka Prefecture Yamaguchi Nobuhiko read a greeting letter from Governor Yoshimura Hirofumi, thanking the Consulate General for its significant efforts in promoting relations between Vietnam and the Kansai region, VNA reported.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Pakistan also hosted a celebration in Islamabad capital city which saw the presence of nearly 200 guests who are representatives from the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and various ministries and agencies in Pakistan; and ambassadors, representatives from embassies of different countries, and international organizations in the capital, along with a large number of Vietnamese expatriates and businesspeople from both Vietnam and Pakistan.

In his speech at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Pakistan Pham Anh Tuan reviewed the significant achievements Vietnam has made in its nation building, safeguarding and development cause since President Ho Chi Minh proclaimed the Declaration of Independence, founding the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on September 2, 1945.

He affirmed that Vietnam continues to pursue a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation, and development, multilateralization and diversification of its relationships, and active and proactive integration into the international community, contributing to regional and global peace, stability, and prosperity.

Regarding Vietnam-Pakistan relations, Tuan emphasized that since the establishment of their diplomatic relations on November 8, 1972, Vietnam has consistently valued the development of cooperation and friendship with Pakistan in various fields, particularly in politics, diplomacy, and economics.

Digital transformation – major driving force for Vietnam to enter new era

General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized the need to undertake comprehensive and synchronous digital transformation as it is a driving force for Vietnam to enter a new development era.

In a recent article released on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of National Day (August 2, 2024), the top Vietnamese leader underlined that leaders of Party Committees, authorities, businesses and people must fully and responsibly understand and stay determined to carry out the digital transformation process, with a focus on the following tasks.

First, it is necessary to build a legal framework for the digital economy in order to create a foundation for Vietnam to grasp opportunities from the 4th Industrial Revolution and to boost digital transformation in all socio-economic sectors, to encourage innovation and protect intellectual property rights, VGP reported.

To call on subordinate levels to regularly review, amend and supplement outdated regulations and create legal corridors for new economic models such as sharing economy, circular economy, artificial intelligence, making sure that these legal frameworks would not hinder development and they must serve national security and protect the legitimate rights and interests of people and businesses.

Second, it is necessary to adopt proper policies to mobilize resources from people, businesses and economic sectors while creating an open and transparent environment for luring domestic and foreign resources for the development of science and technology as well as innovation.

At the same time, General Secretary and President To Lam stressed on the need to have breakthrough mechanisms to attract domestic and foreign talented persons and develop human resources capable of meeting the requirements of the digital economy and the 4th Industrial Revolution.

Third, the top Vietnamese leader reiterated the need to build an effective and efficient State apparatus by cutting intermediate management levels that are unnecessary and speed up power decentralization in association with strengthening inspection and supervision and further clarifying the role of the central and local authorities.

He underlined the need to promote the creativity and activeness of local authorities, to promote information and communication technology application, and to build digital platforms for agencies and organizations to connect and share databases.

By 2030, Vietnam should be among the top 50 countries around the world and rank 3rd in ASEAN in terms of e-government and digital economy indices.

Fourth, General Secretary and President To Lam called for accelerating digital transformation in association with ensuring security and safety in order to help Vietnam make breakthroughs in the new era.

He urged authorities to focus on building digital society, comprehensively digitizing State management activities, and delivering online public services at the highest level, creating a foundation for streamlining the State apparatú and reforming administrative procedures in a substantial manner.

Digital economy should be further developed to create a new driving force for growth while fostering the application of digital technologies in all sectors and areas and creating new business models.
