(VNF) - A Philippine citizen, who has fell serious ill on the Liberian flagged ship Nave Cetus, about 215 nautical miles off southern Vung Tau city, was safely taken ashore and given treatment on August 11th.

The sailor, named Baroma Edmundo, was suffering from severe asthma.

Upon receiving information of the situation from HCM City’s coastal information station, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre for Zone 3 sent its SAR 272 vessel to access the Liberian ship, which was sailing from Mexico to Singapore, with doctors from the Le Loi hospital on board to provide first aid for the victim.

He was examined right on the ship and taken to hospital in Vung Tau city for further treatment when his health was stabilized./.
