	Vietnamese Artist's Paintings Joins Diplomatic Exhibition in Russia

A press conference was recently organized by the Embassy of the Russian Federation, the Russian Trade Representative Office, and the Russian Science and Culture Center in Vietnam to review the outcomes of the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2024, TG&VN reported.

In his remarks, the Ambassador expressed his satisfaction with the sound development at all levels of bilateral cooperation, particularly at the highest level. Ambassador Bezdetko emphasized that the key event of 2024 was the state visit of Russian President V.V. Putin to Vietnam, which served as a pivotal moment significantly advancing multifaceted cooperation.

The visit provided a significant boost to the interaction between executive bodies, parliaments, political parties, and public, scientific, and educational organizations of the two countries. During the visit, a substantial package of agreements, totaling 15 documents, was signed to enhance further cooperation in the fields of economics, education and training, science, and culture. The leaders of both nations adopted an impressive Joint Declaration, laying the groundwork for further strengthening Vietnam-Russia relations in the future.

Ambassador Bezdetko also emphasized the significance of the visit to Russia by National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man in September 2024. During his visit, the NA Chairman attended the third meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee for Cooperation between the Russian State Duma and the Vietnamese NA, reaching agreements on enhanced parliamentary cooperation.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's attendance in the expanded BRICS Summit held in Kazan, Russia, was another highlight. Ambassador Bezdetko noted that the meeting between PM Chinh and President Putin on the occasion of the Summit took place in an atmosphere of warmth and trust, yielding significant directions for enhancing bilateral ties.

In addition, senior representatives from various Vietnamese ministries, including the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, have regularly visited Russia. The relationship between the two foreign ministries was particularly close and effective.

Ambassador Bezdetko underscored the steady growth in economic cooperation, supported by the effective functioning of the Inter-Governmental Committee on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation. Both countries are currently drafting a comprehensive plan for Vietnam-Russia cooperation through 2030, focusing on sectors such as trade and investment, industry, energy, transportation, information and communications technology, science, and education.

Oil and gas cooperation has also seen successful advancements, particularly through the Vietsovpetro joint venture, which remains a flagship initiative in bilateral collaboration, the ambassador noted. Additionally, the resumption of certain direct flights operated by Aeroflot and IrAero has contributed to the recovery of Russian tourist arrivals in Vietnam. Ambassador Bezetko expects the number of Russian tourists to Vietnam to soon reach pre-pandemic levels which was about 650,000 tourist arrivals each year.

The achievements reflect the shared spirit of both sides in comprehensively advancing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, as well as the closeness or alignment of their views on current issues in regional and international agendas. "For its part, Russia is always ready to expand practical cooperation with Vietnam in a wide range of areas and hopes that the countries' traditional cooperation will be strengthened based on agreements reached at high and highest levels," the ambassador emphasized.

At the press conference, Russian Trade Representative in Vietnam Viacheslav Kharinov provided updates on the specific aspects of trade cooperation between the two countrie. He highlighted Russia’s export-focused policies and its active operations to expand business and investment in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, while also developinng markets Southeast Asia, including Vietnam. He underlined significant potential for cooperation between the two countries in logistics, automobile assembly, pharmaceuticals, and high-tech industries.

In addition to strengthening political and economic-trade relations, cultural exchange and educational cooperation remain a priority. Throughout 2024, the Russian Science and Culture Center in Vietnam carried out numerous effective programs. According to V.V. Murashkin, Director of the Center, the “Russian House” in Vietnam has become a hub for Russian-Vietnamese cultural exchange, hosting diverse activities such as exhibitions, film screenings, seminars, and courses. The teaching of the Russian language continues to be maintained at various educational institutions in Vietnam.

In November 2024, a delegation of the Russian Federal Cooperation Agency Rossotrudnichestvo led by E.A. Primakov visited and worked with representatives of the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, and the Vietnam Veterans Association to promote cooperation and future orientation.

In reply to questions on nuclear energy collaboration, in the context of Vietnam’s plan to revive the Ninh Thuan nuclear power project, the ambassador reaffirmed Russia’s readiness to assist Vietnam in developing nuclear technology, particularly nuclear energy.

Regarding questions about plans to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2025, Ambassador Bezdetko revealed that both countries’ foreign ministries are coordinating efforts to organise various events, including delegation exchanges, press conferences, roundtable discussions, art performances, and cultural exhibitions.

On this occasion, Ambassador Bezdetko revealed that Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin will pay an official visit to Vietnam in January 2025. "In January 2025, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin will pay a visit to Vietnam. This significant event will encompass the discussion of further development of trade and economic relations and an exchange of views in a broad context," the diploma said.
