According to Vietnam News Agency correspondents in Seoul, during working trip in South Korea, the Vietnamese delegation met with the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) of South Korea, the Presidential Committee on Digital Platform Government (DFG), the Korea Internet and Security Agency (KISA), the National Information Society Agency of South Korea (NIA), the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA), associations related to Artificial Intelligence (AI), Korea Post; and participated in the Vietnam-Korea Digital Forum.

During the meeting with Minister Lee Jong-ho, the two sides shared information on South Korea's digital strategy and policies in the AI era, including key research and development areas, including AI semiconductor technology, large-scale AI computing, advanced biotechnology, and quantum technology.

Minister Nguyen Manh Hung stated that Vietnam promotes economic growth based on digital technology, focusing on developing information and communications technology, especially narrow and specialized AI. He emphasized the need for international cooperation in policy sharing and human resource training in this sector.

In addition, the two ministers discussed cooperation plans based on the vision and policies for digital innovation growth. Both sides committed to continuing cooperation in information and communication technology (ICT), particularly focusing on AI research and development and high-quality human resource training for semiconductor technology.

During the meeting with the Chairman of the DFG, the South Korean side shared policy directions of the digital government model in South Korea and the government's significant AI projects.

The South Korean representatives introduced the organizational model of the DPG, involving various ministries and 17 working groups to implement specific tasks related to promoting e-government through connecting systems and data of agencies, fostering private sector innovation, and providing customized services and support for data-driven policymaking.

Furthermore, the Vietnamese delegation received information on South Korea's latest ICT policy-making processes during the discussions with MSIT agencies, namely NIA, KISA, and NIPA.

Accordingly, notable initiatives included the AI Voucher for 200 ICT businesses annually, startup support stages, including high-performance computing systems, and affordable office rentals; government projects incorporating startup technology; and the AI-based digital healthcare application named Doctor Answer.

During the visit, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung visited Seoul Cyber University (SCU) and attended the inauguration of the Training Cooperation Office between the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) and SCU.

Minister Hung congratulated the effective collaboration between the two universities and highlighted SCU's digital university model as an advanced example for Vietnamese universities in organizing training, operating, and producing e-learning content integrated with digital technology and AI. He emphasized the need to accelerate progress, increase investment, and expand this advanced digital university model.

The Ministry of Information and Communications in collaboration with MSIT and associations from both countries, organized the 2024 Vietnam-Korea Digital Forum. The event was attended by representatives of the two ministries, the Vietnamese Ambassador to South Korea, ICT associations, 20 Vietnamese tech enterprises, and 150 delegates from South Korean associations, businesses, and local media agencies.

This forum provided an opportunity to support the Vietnamese ICT business community in connecting, sharing needs, and seeking cooperation opportunities with international partners in the South Korean market.

The event, held for the first time, marked the beginning of a new phase of strong development cooperation from policy to market, training, and human resource development. It also promoted collaboration and sharing of policies, initiatives, and advanced technological solutions between the two countries, leading to growth in both South Korea and Vietnam and enhancing global market competitiveness.

At a discussion with Vietnamese students studying ICT in South Korea, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung shared the development of Vietnam's ICT sector and answered students' questions about career directions after graduation in South Korea.

He inspired aspirations for building a prosperous Vietnam through technology development and expanding into the international market. Working for Vietnamese technology corporations abroad is also an action for the development of the homeland, enhancing Vietnam's stature in the international arena, noted he.

On this occasion, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung and the delegation visited the representative office of FPT Corporation in Seoul, South Korea.
