Vietnam, Switzerland Cooperate in Training AI, Semiconductor Chip Human Resources

Vietnamese and Swiss higher education institutions signed documents to promote cooperation and improve Vietnamese firms’ human resources quality in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductor microchips.

Vietnamese universities have strengths in information technology training and good training quality, and many graduates of this major are working in countries and large enterprises around the world said Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son at a dialogue between Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and global businesses on cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI), automobile industry, semiconductor chip, and ecosystem development in Davos, Switzerland, on January 16 (local time).

According to Son, universities in Vietnam are implementing research and training on AI. Regarding the field of semiconductor chips, although there are not many universities that provide full direct training and degrees, there are many related industries. Currently, universities are urgently developing programs, training lecturers, and inviting international experts to organize training activities.

By 2024, many schools will enroll about 1,000 students and this number will increase rapidly in the following years. The Vietnamese government prioritizes investment in universities and a group of technology and engineering schools is collaborating on a large project to promote it.

“International cooperation, participation, and support from businesses will help us quickly develop training in the field of semiconductor chips as well as many other key industries. We are ready to meet the requirements of providing high-quality human resources for technology businesses investing in Vietnam," Minister Son said.

Within the framework of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to attend the WEF-54, the signing and awarding ceremony of cooperation agreements between the heads of six Vietnamese universities and the heads of Vietnam, and Business & Hotel Management School (BHMS) of the Benedict Education Group, Switzerland.

Six Vietnamese universities include the University of Transport, Water Resources University, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, Ho Chi Minh City Open University, University of Economics and Business Administration, and University of Medicine and Pharmacy - Thai Nguyen University.

According to the signed document, the facilities will exchange lecturers, researchers, and staff; short-term and long-term student exchange, cultural exchange, summer courses; scholarships; exchanging resources for training and management. Besides, conducting technical and skills support and training; cooperating in implementing research projects, publishing the results of scientific research cooperation, organizing international conferences, conducting research and training in the fields of circular economy, green economy, climate change, medicine, and pharmacy.

The signed documents promise a period of deeper and more effective cooperation between Vietnamese and Swiss higher education institutions.
