Vietnam to Become Key Link in Amazon's Global Supply Chain

With fast digital transformation and supportive policies from the government, Vietnam is becoming an emerging manufacturing center for business-to-customer (B2C) e-commerce export growth both regionally and globally. Global e-retail giant Amazon will make Vietnam an emerging link in its global e-commerce supply chain, said Amazon Vice President Eric Broussard.

Many products from third-party selling partners globally, including Vietnam, account for 60% of the total number of products sold on Amazon. In 2023, Vietnamese businesses sold more than 17 million products on Amazon. This helps bring customers around the world a variety of unique Made in Vietnam products, from handicrafts, home decorations, and furniture to organic cashew nuts.

Between August 31, 2022 August 31, 2023, for 12 months, Vietnamese goods listed on Amazon gained record popularity with many new product categories.

The Amazon 2023 Cross-Border E-Commerce Conference was held in October in Ho Chi Minh City with the theme "Steady growth". About 1,000 people participated in the event, including representatives of government agencies, industry associations, start-ups and Vietnamese small and medium enterprises who are Vietnamese sales partners on Amazon.

The top 5 best-selling categories for Made in Vietnam products include home and kitchen goods, health and personal care, apparel and beauty.

Earlier this year, in his remarks at the Amazon 2023 Cross-Border E-Commerce Conference in Ho Chi Minh City, Amazon Vice President Eric Broussard discussed solutions to connect the supply chain, expand the product portfolio and build brands as the foundation for a sustainable export development roadmap in Vietnam.

Broussard also stressed 3 reasons why Vietnam is considered an emerging link in Amazon's global supply chain. He believed that Vietnam would contribute to bringing more diverse choices to hundreds of millions of Amazon customers.

Vietnam is gradually asserting itself as an important emerging manufacturing center in Asia and the world, said Broussard. Vietnam's ability to produce a variety of products with excellent quality, creativity, and competitiveness is receiving a lot of attention from developed markets such as the US.

Vietnamese businesses have great enthusiasm when participating in e-commerce markets. Eric Broussard was extremely impressed by the local business's integration into the global economy.

Also, Amazon has the advantage of infrastructure and massive customer bases around the world. Meanwhile, Vietnam processes excellent production and innovation capacity to meet the demands for customers in developed countries.

To realize the acceleration of support, Amazon is committed to continuously introducing new and improved tools, programs, and services for Vietnamese businesses. Recently, the first Amazon Day-1 Training Center in Vietnam was launched, catering available services and features for Vietnamese businesses who are still unfamiliar with Amazon.

Amazon has the resource of more than 400 order fulfillment centers worldwide, which Vietnamese sellers can take advantage of. In addition, Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), a program for outsourcing order fulfillment to Amazon, allows Prime customers to order and receive the product within two days or even the next day, free of charge. Thereby, Vietnamese sellers can expect to soon completely control remotely everything from products for sale, prices, and promotions, to branding.
