The Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment informed that the first Vietnam-US economic dialogue took place on June 25 (local time) in Washington D.C, US. Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung and Jose Fernandez, US Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment, co-chaired the event.
This is the first economic dialogue meeting between Vietnam and the US to enhance bilateral cooperation in areas such as economics, trade, and investment.

The two sides discussed and provided specific suggestions in five areas, including cooperation to build a semiconductor industry ecosystem; cooperation on energy and key minerals; cooperation on the business environment; promoting the attraction and retention of high-quality investment and strategic export control; and cooperation on key information technology infrastructure and network security.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment stated that the dialogue between the two countries is a success, reaching specific results, particularly in areas relating to the semiconductor ecosystem. The two sides agreed on specific proposals as a foundation for promoting implementation. The dialogue's conclusions achieved the goal of fostering the growth of comprehensive cooperation between the two countries following their upgrade to a strategic partnership, particularly in the field of economy.
This dialogue has laid the groundwork for further cooperation between the two countries in other areas. Both sides decided to hold the second Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Economic Dialogue in Hanoi in 2025.
Previously, within the framework of his working trip to the US, Minister Nguyen Chi Dung had a working session with leading US technology corporations on innovation, semiconductors, and artificial intelligence.
Minister Nguyen Chi Dung suggested Marvell continue developing its commercial, research, and development efforts in Vietnam, thereby contributing to the growth of Vietnam's semiconductor industry ecosystem. Marvell is building an IC design center in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang with approximately 400 engineers and plans to expand in the coming time.
The Vietnamese Minister of Planning and Investment also hopes that Google will continue to cooperate with the Vietnam National Innovation Center (NIC) to implement digital talent development programs and promote innovative businesses and start-ups in Vietnam and that Google will expand its programs to support digital economic development, innovation, and entrepreneurship in Vietnam.
At a meeting with ARM Holdings Company, a Silicon Valley company with a market capitalization of approximately US $165 billion, the Vietnamese Minister of Planning and Investment proposed that ARM conduct research and develop an investment cooperation plan in Vietnam, cooperate with Vietnam on human resource development, and connect ARM partners in Asia and around the world to invest in Vietnam.
