Vietnam-US Friendship Association in Quang Tri Holds First Congress

The Vietnam-US Friendship Association in Quang Tri is a voluntary social organization of Vietnamese organizations and citizens living in the province to participate in people-to-people diplomacy.
This contributes to strengthening solidarity, friendship, cooperation, and mutual assistance between the Vietnamese people, the people of Quang Tri particularly, and the American people.
The Association is responsible for advising the Union of Friendship Organizations, all levels and branches of the province to deploy and expand effective solidarity and friendship activities between the people of Quang Tri and the Americans.
The Association enlisted the sympathy, support, and assistance of the American people and the people of Quang Tri, promoting the people-to-people diplomacy of the Party and the State, and contributing to the socio-economic development of the province.
The Vietnam-US Friendship Association in Quang Tri operated in accordance with the association's charter approved by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. The Association complied with the law and is under the state management of the Department of Foreign Affairs.

In the term of 2023 - 2028, the Vietnam-US Friendship Association of Quang Tri will promote advocacy to attract members and people in the province to participate in activities of solidarity, friendship exchange, and cooperation for development with the Americans.
The Association supports the movement to protect peace, fight war, terrorism, and preserve the environment.
They associate cooperation activities for peace and friendship with socio-economic development, education, training, health care, environment, social security, and ensuring national defense and security of the province.
Along with that, the Association will focus on foreign affairs, consolidate and expand international relations, and organize friendly exchanges.
The Association participates in the program to exploit resources, and mobilize the support of overseas Vietnamese to develop the association.

At the congress, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam-US Friendship Association in Quang Tri for the term 2023 - 2028 introduced 11 members. Thai Huu Lieu, head of the International Cooperation Division, Quang Tri Department of Foreign Affairs was elected president of the association.
