On November 2, local time, the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela, in collaboration with the member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), held the ASEAN Bazaar 2024 in Caracas.

The event is designed to foster cultural exchange and enhance the reputation of the participating countries and their citizens. It also aims to improve understanding, foster friendly relations, and encourage cooperation with the host nation. This event took place at Francisco Miranda Park, located in the heart of Caracas.

The event was attended by representatives from the Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, other ministries, departments, socio-political organizations, businesses, and the embassies of India, Cuba, North Korea, Japan, South Korea, and Egypt, among others.

At the opening ceremony, Indonesian Ambassador to Venezuela and current Chairman of the ASEAN Committee in Caracas (ACC), Imam Edy Mulyono, highlighted that ASEAN is renowned as a region possessing the world's most diverse, affluent, and splendid cultures. These distinctive cultures bestow upon ASEAN diversity and vibrancy.

Ambassador Imam Edy Mulyono emphasized the principles of consensus and solidarity within ASEAN, which are crucial for ensuring it remains a united bloc among Southeast Asian nations. He affirmed that Bazar ASEAN 2024 will further promote understanding and cultural connections within the bloc and between ASEAN countries and Venezuela.

In Venezuela, ASEAN countries alternated in showcasing a variety of musical and artistic performances, introduced traditional dishes, and displayed handicrafts and products that reflect a strong national identity.

At the ASEAN Bazaar 2024, the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela presents a distinctive cultural space rich in national identity, featuring handicrafts, traditional attire like ao dai, and conical hats. Particularly, traditional dishes like pho and nem leave a lasting impression on both local and international tourists.

After visiting the Vietnamese booth and enjoying coffee and Vietnamese dishes, the Indian Ambassador to Venezuela, Ashok Babu, and his wife shared their pleasure, remarking, "We have heard much about Vietnamese cuisine, and today we are thrilled to have experienced it."

The Ambassadors of Suriname and Egypt to Venezuela, Gustaaf Rasiman and Karim Essameldin Amin respectively, have expressed high regard for the event organized by Vietnam and the ASEAN countries in Caracas. They have also conveyed their interest in participating in future bazaars modeled after the ASEAN+ Bazaar.

Addressing the media, Oswaldo Hernández, President of the Venezuela-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce, remarked, "I have visited Vietnam on numerous occasions and am particularly struck by the Vietnamese cuisine. Your culinary culture is remarkable."

As part of the Bazaar's activities, the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela collaborated with the Vietnam News Agency's Latin American office to present the Spanish edition of Vietnam Pictorial and showcase photographs of Vietnam's renowned landscapes.
