Vietnamese doctors give free surgeries to Cambodians

Over 500 Cambodian poor people, veterans and officers of the Royal Cambodian Army, as well as overseas Vietnamese, were provided with free eye check-ups and surgeries by a delegation of doctors and nurses from the Military Hospital 175 under Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defence and the Ho Chi Minh city Hospital of Ophthalmology on October 6th.

The activity, which lasts until October 10th, was part of the 2016Vietnam – Cambodia Trade Fair held by Vietnam’s Ministries of National Defence, and Industry and Trade in collaboration with Cambodia’s Ministries of National Defence, and Industry and Trade.

Under the program, doctors and nurses will provide free eye check-ups for 200 people, and surgeries for the remaining 300 using advanced technology; and give presents to 300 people.

To conduct the program, the delegation has brought perse medical equipment and devices, together with experienced eye doctors of the two hospitals. Apart from giving healthcare for Cambodian people, the delegation will transfer eye treatment and eye surgery technology to doctors from the Preahket Mealea Hospital under the Royal Cambodian Army.

Lieutenant-General Tran Don, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of National Defence appreciated the program which he said helped foster the solidarity and traditional friendship between the two armies and peoples.

He urged the Military Hospital 175 to create every condition to help Preahket Mealea Hospital in training its medical staff and receiving advanced technology./.
