Vietnamese Student Sports Delegation Won 28 Medals in Southeast Asia
The Southeast Asian Student Sports Festival was first held in 1981, in order to create a rewarding environment for students and an opportunity for sports in the countries of this region to discover talents. The 2024 Southeast Asian Student Games is expected to take place in Indonesia.
As of 2022, the Southeast Asian Student Games have been held 20 times. This competition brings together student-athletes from 11 countries in the region, competing in 23 sports with 212 contents, such as archery, fencing, swimming, table tennis, ball pass, and football.

The Vietnamese student sports delegation attended the 2022 Southeast Asian Student Sports Festival with 88 members, including 51 athletes competing in 6/23 sports. According to a representative from the High-Performance Sports Department, the event offers a good chance for Vietnamese athletes to learn from experience in regional countries, where the school sports movement is strongly developed.
The Vietnamese student sports delegation won a total of 28 medals to rank 4th overall, including 13 gold medals, 6 silver medals, and 9 bronze medals. At the previous congress held in 2018 in Myanmar, the Vietnamese student sports delegation ranked 5th overall with 16 gold medals, 9 silver medals, and 6 bronze medals.

Ranked 1st at the 2022 Southeast Asian Student Games, the Thai student sports delegation owned 109 gold medals, 61 silver medals, and 42 bronze medals. In second place is the Malaysian student sports team with 49 gold medals, 83 silver medals, and 50 bronze medals.
