Vietnam's exports to Canada take the lead among ASEAN countries
Vietnam continued to top Southeast Asia’s exports to Canada, as well as total bilateral commodity exchange to the country, in the first nine months of 2016, reported the Vietnam News Agency.

According to Statistics Canada, Vietnam-Canada trade turnover reached nearly USD3.06 billion in the first three quarters of the year, the highest rate among 10 ASEAN countries and much higher than that of the second ranking country, Thailand, at nearly USD2.229 billion.
Meanwhile, Vietnam’s exports to Canada were worth some USD2.757 billion, a year-on-year rise of 14.8%, and imports from Canada posted USD350 million, down 26.8% from a year earlier.
Vietnam’s major export commodities to the market included machinery, electric devices and electronics (USD904 million, up 33.5%), footwear of all kinds (USD305 million, up 17.7%), knitted products (USD252 million, down 3.2%) and exterior and interior wooden products and spare parts (USD189 million, down 3.1%).
Commodities imported from Canada were aquatic products (USD54 million, down 9.6%), soybeans and oilseeds (USD38 million, down 6.3%), fertilizer (USD33 million, down 29%), and machinery, devices and spare parts (USD27 million, down 0.2%)./.
