Vinamilk again heads Forbes Vietnam list of most valuable brands

Three major enterprises with the first letter “V” - Vinamilk, Viettel and Vingroup - are the most valuable brands in Vietnam as listed by Forbes magazine.

With support from Viet Capital Securities, Forbes Vietnam released its list of the 40 most valuable brands in Vietnam, estimating their total value at $5.4 billion, an increase of 20 per cent compared to last year.

Vietnam’s leading dairy producer Vinamilk retained its leading position, with a brand value of more than $1.7 billion, rising from the $1.52 billion Forbes estimated last year.

The military-run telecoms firm Viettel ranked second, with $849.6 million, while property developer Vingroup secured third place with $299 million.

Following were the Saigon Beer - Alcohol - Beverage Corporation and Masan Consumer, with brands valued at $254.5 million and $217.9 million, respectively, then FPT Group with $176.2 million, Vietcombank $137 million, Vietinbank $134.5 million, Truong Hai Auto Corporation $130 million, and BIDV $124.32 million.

This year’s list has a host of new faces, such as the Quang Ngai Sugar Joint Stock Company, Petrolimex, Saigon Tourist, and agricultural group Loc Troi.

The consumer goods group accounted for an overwhelming number on this year’s list, followed by the banking-finance group and the technology-telecommunications group.

Forbes Vietnam said the rankings were based on enterprises with transparent financial data.

Most prominent businesses are now on the list, with the airlines group represented by Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air.

Preparing for its IPO on NASDAQ, technology company VNG was listed at No. 26, with a brand value of $36.5 million.
