Three Vietnamese students won two gold medals, and one silver medals at the 48th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) held in Tbilisi, Georgia from July 23rd to August 1st.

(VNF) - Three Vietnamese students won two gold medals, and one silver medals at the 48th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) held in Tbilisi, Georgia from July 23rd to August 1st.

The two gold medals went to Dinh Quang Hieu from HUS High School for Gifted Students under Hanoi National University and Nguyen Khanh Duy from Lam Son High School for gifted students in Thanh Hoa Province with the score of 89.764 and 86.116 marks respectively (ranked 7th and 16th).

Nguyen Thanh Trung from Le Hong Phong High School for Gifted Students in the Nam Dinh Province received the silver medal with the score of 79.212 marks (ranked 38th place).

Due to his sickness on the day of the laboratory practical tests, Pham Duc Minh from Hanoi – Amsterdam High school for Gifted Students could not perform well at the competition. He only scored 43.68 marks.

Chinese team gained four gold medals. Russia, Romania, South Korea and Taiwan (China) bagged three gold medals. Thailand, Singapore, India and Iran won two gold medals, alongside Vietnam.

Last year, Vietnamese students won one gold, two silver and one bronze at the 47th competition which was held in Azerbaijan.

IChO is an annual academic competition for high school students worldwide. This year, 280 students from 75 countries and territories took part in the competition./.
