World Day Against Child Labour: Young children still struggle with hard work
(VNF) - Instead of going to school and enjoy a carefree life, hundreds millions of kids in the world are working under terribly toxic and harmful environment for their livelihood.
The World Day against Child labour was initiated by the International Labours Organization in 2002.
The World Day aims to focus attention on the global extent of child labour and the action and efforts needed to eliminate it. Each year on 12 June, the World Day brings together governments, employers and workers organizations, civil society, as well as millions of people from around the world to highlight the plight of child labourers and what can be done to help them.
Currently, an estimated number of 168 million children are victims of labour exploitation or facing the risk of being exploited. Despite multi efforts have been made to end the issue, child labour remain rampant, particularly in underdeveloped countries in Africa or developing countries like India, Brazil.
The burden of earning for a living keep on haunting those children everyday, as they have to work extremely hard to afford basic needs to survive like food, water. Going to school and enjoying a carefree life are something they don't even dare to dream of./.
