World Environment Day marked in Hanoi
The Hanoi People’s Committee on June 5th held a launching ceremony marking the 2016 World Environment Day (WED) (June 5th).

This year, the WED is marked to call on humankind to live friendly with the environment, reduce the increasing pressure on the natural ecological creatures on earth.
It also aims to gather communities’ efforts in preventing illegal trade of wildlife which had bad influence on biological persification and threatens the life of flora and fauna all over the world.
In Hanoi, to mark the event, the city wants to create positive changes in cleaning up the environment, protecting urban scenery and urban living lifestyle, and preventing littering and unsanctioned advertisements.
In May, the city People’s Committee issued a plan to respond the WED in which the city directed agencies and political and social organizations to participate in the activity, confirming the city’s commitments in protecting nature and the environment, preserving biological preservation and preventing illegal trafficking of wild animals.
Thirty districts across the city have held campaigns to clean up the environment, plant trees, and eliminate unsanctioned advertisements on streets.
The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union at the central and Hanoi levels, and Nhi Dong newspaper have organized a painting contest about the environment for children across the city in order to educate them about protecting the environment.
One hundred of young people from the city Department of Natural Resources and Environment and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the Hanoi Central Agencies Bloc, as well as from voluntary clubs, participated in cycling along the streets to arouse the attraction from community in protecting the city environment./.
