Zhishan helps teachers hone skills in organizing reading activities for students
A workshop providing teachers and leaders in education sectors with knowledges and techniques in organizing reading activities for primary students were held by Zhishan Foudation in mid August.

The workshop was conducted by Hongkong’s senior education expert, Doctor Leung Wai Ming in Vinh City, Nghe An Province from August 10-14.
The program, part of the project “Befriend Books” conducted by Zhishan since 2008, aimed to set a platform for trainees to exchange knowledge and experiences in organizing reading activities for primary students.
The workshop benefited over 160 participants including representatives of Education Department Executive Boards, experts, managers and core teachers of 69 schools in four central provinces of Thua Thien - Hue, Quang Binh, Ha Tinh and Nghe An.
Key topics the workshop covered were: Book sharing; Storytelling; Methods of designing high-quality lesson plans; raising questions as a communicative approach; adopting reading as a teaching method; activity management and supervision; evaluation methods of the effectiveness of reading.
After joining the program, participants highly evaluate its enlightening, meaningful and practical contents.
It is expected that through effective leadership and guidance from Education leaders, reading will become a students’ favorite activities at school./.
