Achievements of 50 Years of Vietnam-Singapore Relations

Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics in collaboration with the Singapore Embassy in Vietnam and Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (Singapore) on November 17 organized a dialogue session with the theme "50 years of Vietnam-Singapore relations: Achievements and prospects" on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries.

In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics emphasized that the discussion has special meaning, as it is an activity commemorating the 50th anniversary of the two countries establishing diplomatic relations.

This is also an opportunity for both sides to look back at the relationship between the two countries over the past half-century, looking forward to a brighter future in the relationship between the two countries.

According to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, since the establishment of the strategic partnership, Vietnam-Singapore relations developed on all five pillars.

Those pillars include deepening political relations of mutual trust, enhancing economic cooperation, developing security and defense cooperation, promoting cooperation in other fields, and strengthening cooperation at international and multilateral forums.

Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister of National Security of Singapore Teo Chee Hean said that with a solid foundation built and cultivated over the past half century, the high determination of the leaders, people, and business communities of the two countries, Vietnam-Singapore relations will develop strongly and effectively across all channels of the Party, National Assembly, Government and people-to-people exchanges.

At the session, delegates from the two countries discussed the achievements of Vietnam-Singapore relations over the past 50 years, the development prospects, and Singapore's leadership training program.

These are meaningful contents as Vietnam and Singapore are promoting the strong relationship between the two countries, contributing to peace, stability, and development in the region.
